The Island's Table

Researchers of the Eindhoven University of Technology are proud of their "smart table" that can be used to electronically move, resize and animate pictures. Those pictures can be imported by posing the paper on the table. For better understanding, take a look at the video, that's very impressive. Jean-Bernard Marten, a visual interaction specialist who heads the project, explains that the designers particularly like this feeling of having all the pictures under their hand. The Blue Eye table has been introduced in September at the British Computing Society's Human Computer Interaction Group Conference at Queen Mary, University of London ... The conference with the largest name in the world. And bravo. |
The system uses a glass surface with a digital camera overhead, and a video display underneath that consists of a projector and a mirror. After placing an object on the table, the user presses a button to have a digital copy of the image to the screen, with the software working in the background to distinguish the image from its surroundings.
