the car that drives alone, by Opel
automotive
The Opel Vectra 2008, the car than can drive by itself, at the speed of 100 km/h in deep traffic without any action of the driver!
The system Traffic Assist has been developed by General Motors (Opel, Saab, Chevrolet, ...)
It uses lasers and a video camera.
The software sees sthe igns, the curves and the lines of the road and also the others vehicles. With all this stuff, it controls the engine and the wheels, the brakes to get stable on the road, at a correct distance of the previous vehicle.
About the price. GM foresees 50% more expansive than current systems on the cars : systems that control distances but without any action on the driving.
Quite hot.
